Fantastico and Xcontroller will soon be standard inclusions on Rackshack Cpanel servers. We feel that the added functionality is that important that we're willing to absorb the cost.
You can find out more about the products at
www.cpanelthemes.com .
When we just had Ensim, I was soooooo disappointed that Fantastico would not work on Plesk or Ensim.
Also, we will be adding the Fantastico "flash animations" to our help center.
There will also be a seperate area under Cpanel for Fantastico and Xcontroller.

There are alot of security holes in those extra scripts for CPanel. I hope RS has the extra support to deal with downed server issues and alot of hacked servers.
Maybe all that money for Licenses RS paid will make Cpanel more secure, stable and reliable, not just full of useless features.

All freshly configured servers will have these options. There are a few in the system that will not have them.
If you are one that does not have it, starting May 1, we will be able to issue you the software and license at no cost.

That is AWESOME news!
Not just another great reason to go cpanel, but yet another great reason to go RS period.
I just wish you would reset up your affiliate program or allow some kind of reselling option. But since you are getting ALL the business you can handle as it is, I doubt you need the extra push.
Anyways, great news - Thanks again!

They aren't there. I just had a restore to Cpanel too and it isn't on the drive images yet.
Sometime around or on May 1, the programs will be available from RS (for free) for those who are entitiled to them.

Indicates someone got it during a restore, so I put in a TT to have it installed and this is the response I got:
Dear Customer,
Fantastico and XController are not available at this time. There is no ETA
for when they will be made available, although we are aiming for within
the next two weeks. Please check the Rackshack website and forums for
updates on availability.
Thank you for choosing Rackshack.

Now I am ticked off. I ordered cPanel specifically because these features were announced (and were supposed to have been available on new upgrades a week or more ago). I'm holding off on an ad campaign because I need this in place prior to promoting my business.
Now, the May 1 date has passed and there is 'no ETA' on this?
How difficult is it to keep your promises, HS? As a recent customer, should I anticipate in the future that I can't trust you or your company to do what they say they will do, when they say they will do it?
Your lack of reliability and truth is costing me money and time now.
I expected better from you.

Lol ... it's Rackshack tradition. Everything (well most things) are late but when they do finally arrive they're typically sorted perfect. I'm sure Headsurfer likes to get things just right before introducing them - good choice IMHO.

Sure it would be nice if HS would make an announcement updating the eta but come on. What a frickin' nice addon that he didn't ask you to pony up a penny for, now when your new shiny FREE toy hasn't arrived yet, you blankity moan and complain.
I want this as much as the next guy but come on...

I can understand something like the Windows deployment or even the backup solution deployment being complicated and needing time to get 'just right'.
What in the world needs to be 'just right' about filling a software order? We already know what software is going to be included; we know that it will be free; and we were told that the deal was done. How much more 'just right' do we need to justify this delay?

He forgot to list backups as late also.
While I sincerely appreciate that they take the time to get it right, IMHO it might be better not to set delivery dates unless you know you can meet them.

Contracts with the designers/creators
Ensuring installs will work smoothly
Creating disk images including the software
Licensing issues
It may have been better if HS stopped giving us delivery dates - but then that would just keep people bugging him forever until something is announced. It's a no-win situation.
Was a date announced for backups? I didn't hear of one but haven't been around these parts much recently. I'd imagine it's a terribly complex system to setup and ensure data integrity for thousands of servers so I can see 100% why that could take a long time. There are so many things can go wrong and make the process more complex.

Free has nothing to do with this Tone. The issue (with me at least) is trust in the company I am doing business with.
Telling your customers that you are going to do something and then not following through on it does not increase their trust in your word being good, nor does it make you look like you have your act together.
Some of us made plans to offer these features to our customers, based on what we were told by the Top Man here at RS and the dates he provided to us. Now we are being told that we have to delay our plans indefintely. No matter how you look at it, thats not a good way to do business and gain your customer's trust in your word and your ability.
It has nothing to do with free. It has everything to do with business.

Let's face it ... we all wanted our new FREE toy. Even to the point of checking for availablity at midnight May 1st.
I too wanted to add that to a long list of features that, without HS, I would not be able to afford this quickly.
So, HS, I appreciate the fact that you were not able to make it available as soon as you expected. But please in the future ... if you think it'll be May 1st ... tell us "Sometime in May".

I'm sure your customers would love it if you had the software installed and the system kept crashing or the data on the HDD was lost.

also - if you bank on a free software to make your business successful or not and a few days really makes that much of a difference... well, I'd rethink my strategy a little bit. I doubt we will hear either which way this weekend from HS, so maybe sometime Monday we'll hear whats up with this - until then, relax and enjoy the sunny day outside (midwest).
Who knows, it could be a problem with the guy from Fantastico thats having issues - he just released a new version. I know that they are 'following through' with this, it goes without saying.
AGAIN - I for one have been waiting for this too - I didn't log on at midnight may 1st but first thing in the morning for sure - but I know that my business will not go down the tubes because I have to wait a few days longer, it's a shiny new toy, it's cool to be able to offer it, it will be fun to play with - but it shouldn't be a business maker.
so give peac.. hmm.. HS a chance...

I don't think everyone is complaining about the delay, I myself more annoyed due to the lack of information provided to us on the cpanel forums. A simple notice from RS on the issue would have set everyone at rest instead of being potentially ignored.

I ordered my new server on May 2'nd it does not have it, and tech support seemed to have no idea when it would be available. Obviously (to me anyway) something is not congruent here. What's the real honest skinney on this?

thats odd - someone else reported (in this thread even I believe) that they got a new box and that it had the image on it, unless you got one of the first boxes that was imaged with cpanel and it was just laying around?
Maybe there is some issues with the guy from Fantastico (he is Greek afterall and they can be excentric (J/K))... or some technical issues with it?

It should have been a fresh box that appeared on May 1 (2GHz P4) but I was unable to order it till the 2'nd as RS says they don't take orders on the first day of the month. Unless RS has a bunch of old boxes sitting around that tey release a few at a time. When I first got it it wouldn't work with Cpanel as I guess they hadn't put the liscense on it yet. A trouble ticket got that working the next day. Their support staff seems to be pretty good, just a few communication problems. They work those out though. Based on my experience I would recommend anyone needing a new box order it a few days in advance of their need date to allow for these types of things though. It's currently in the hands of gpan being secured. It probably won't go into real service for another week or so.

when i got my box at the end of april, it had been running for about 13 days, so i guess they order and install them in bulk
