Hi Sirs,

Just want to ask some expert advice before I make a recommendation to my managers... We need to expand the capacity of one of our website since its load average is runing on an average on 5's, I already separated the mysql database on another server but the high load persists. My manager asked me to canvas on load balancing the webserver to a second box. the box im planning to get is this one.

Server #2: Kentsfield 3210 Series - SATA
-Intel Xeon 3210 Quad Core Kentsfield Processor (2.13GHz)
-2048 MB RAM
-250GB Hard Drive
-2500 Gigs
-$259/month

im planning on replacing both the current webserver and mysql server with this new server and getting another server so i will have two webservers and one mysql server.

The question is... the original two boxes are running on Redhat Enterprise 4.4, but i really want to use freebsd 6.2 on the boxes. I read somewhere that Linux currently outperforms freebsd in mysql useage (i think freebsd 7.1 will fix that). can you confirm these? otherwise im planning on using redhat on the mysql server and freebsd on the webservers...

Opinoin please?
